About the JLPT levels
The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) has five levels: N5 (easiest) to N1 (hardest). N5 covers ~800 words and ~100 kanji. N1 requires ~10,000 words and ~2,000 kanji, plus the ability to handle abstract and academic Japanese.
This 15-question quiz can't replace a full mock test — it's a quick gut check to help you pick study material. For the full vocabulary at every level, see our free JLPT vocabulary list.
