Frequently asked questions
Is music actually effective for learning French?
For vocabulary and pronunciation, yes — with a caveat. Lyrics take liberties with word order and grammar for the sake of rhyme, so treat music as vocabulary input rather than a grammar model.
Should I learn from rap?
Eventually. It has the richest vocabulary of any French medium, but the speed and the slang density make it a poor starting point. Come back to it at B1.
Do I need official lyrics?
Accurate ones, yes — fan transcriptions often contain errors, and a mis-transcribed line becomes a memorised mistake.
