会 V (future)

huì V

will V

Structure

Subject + 会 + Verb / Verb Phrase + (Object)

How it works

The auxiliary verb '会' (huì) is used to express a future action or a prediction about what is likely to happen. In this context, it translates to 'will' in English. It indicates that the speaker believes the event will occur in the future.

Examples

明天会下雨。

Míngtiān huì xiàyǔ.

It will rain tomorrow.

我明年会去中国。

Wǒ míngnián huì qù Zhōngguó.

I will go to China next year.

他会来参加我的生日派对。

Tā huì lái cānjiā wǒ de shēngrì pàiduì.

He will come to my birthday party.

Common mistakes

Do not use '会' for personal intentions that are already decided (use '要' or '打算' instead); '会' is more about predictions or certainties of future events.

Tip

To negate this structure, use '不会' (bú huì) to mean 'will not'.
