加之
jiāzhī
In addition; moreover; coupled with
Structure
Sentence/Clause 1, 加之 + Reason/Condition, (导致/使得) Result
How it works
The conjunction '加之' is used to introduce an additional reason, condition, or factor that contributes to a result. It is often used in formal writing or speech to link two clauses where the second clause provides further justification or explanation, similar to 'coupled with' or 'on top of that'.
Examples
该地气候宜人,加之交通便利,吸引了大量游客。

Common mistakes
Do not use '加之' at the very beginning of a passage; it must follow a previously stated fact or reason to function as an 'addition'.
Tip
Think of '加之' as a more formal, high-level version of '再加上' (zài jiāshàng). It is particularly effective in academic writing to build a multi-layered argument.
