Vocabulary Sprints

Lesson 1 of 40

Vocabulary Sprint 1 — days and dates

about 8 minutes

Aki sits at a table in the sunlit Komorebi House café, thoughtfully looking at a calendar on her phone.

After this lesson you can

  • Name any day of the week, and say which day something is on.
  • Say the day before yesterday, the day after tomorrow, last year and the year after next.

Aki keeps a paper calendar taped beside the register and copies every date onto the shop notebook a second time, in pencil, in case the first pen fades. Today's page already has three birthdays and one closing shift she has mixed up twice.

Aki

A date only counts once it is written down somewhere you will actually look. Mine goes down twice — the notebook, and my head — because my head is the one that loses.
