How it works
This structure is used to introduce a person's perspective, viewpoint, or opinion on a particular matter. It is equivalent to 'In someone's opinion' or 'From someone's point of view' in English. It is commonly used in formal speech and writing to present an observation or judgment.
Examples
在我看来，这个问题并不难解决。
Zài wǒ kànlái, zhège wèntí bìng bù nán jiějué.
In my opinion, this problem is not difficult to solve.
在老师看来，他是一个进步很快的学生。
Zài lǎoshī kànlái, tā shì yígè jìnbù hěn kuài de xuésheng.

Common mistakes
Users sometimes mistakenly use '觉得' inside this structure (e.g., '在我看来觉得...'). This is redundant because '在...看来' already introduces an opinion.
Tip
Think of '看来' literally as 'looking at it.' It creates a frame for the viewpoint, so the main opinion always follows the comma.
