Verb (plain form) + の + がへたです

How it works

This structure is used to express that someone is not proficient or is unskillful at performing a particular action or activity.

Examples

私は歌を歌うのがへたです。

I am bad at singing songs.

Common mistakes

Forgetting the 'の' when attaching to a verb.

Tip

Like じょうずです, the の nominalizes the verb.
