How it works

This grammar point links a noun to the topic or subject it concerns or is related to. It creates a noun phrase that describes something's content or area of relevance.

Examples

これは日本の歴史に関する本です。

This is a book concerning Japanese history.

Common mistakes

Using it as a sentence-ending particle; it needs to modify a noun, thus becoming 『～に関するN』.

Tip

It's similar to 'about' but more formal and specific.
