お母さん

mother — somebody else's, and how you address your own; 母 is yours in the third person

お父さん

father — the same rule, with 父 for your own in the third person

お兄さん

older brother — somebody else's; your own is 兄, also on this list

お姉さん

older sister — somebody else's; your own is 姉

my older brother — the plain form, for the third person

姉

my older sister — the plain form

おばあさん

grandmother — long あ; w12's 祖母 is the plain form for your own

おじいさん

grandfather — long い, written 祖父さん; not the same word as おじさん

伯父

uncle — short い; also written 叔父, and the syllabus wrongly reads it おじいさん

伯母

aunt — short あ, against おばあさん's long one; also written 叔母

奥さん

somebody's wife — w12's 妻 is your own; 奥 means the inner part of a house

両親

both parents — 両 the 両 of w11b's 両方, plus 親, a parent

兄弟

siblings — 兄 older brother plus 弟 younger; it covers sisters too

家族

a family — 家 house plus 族, a kin group

男の子

a boy — literally a male child, built with the の of w03's 緑の

女の子

a girl — the same pattern with 女

皆さん

everyone — how you address a group; w12's 皆 is the bare form

外国人

a foreigner — 外国 a foreign country plus 人; 外国の方 is the polite form

留学生

an overseas student — 留学 studying abroad plus the 生 of w07's 高校生

警官

a police officer — 警 of w12's 警察 plus 官, an official; 警察官 in full

おまわりさん

the friendly word for a police officer — from 回る, w03's verb: the one who goes round

あなた

you — distant rather than neutral, and between spouses an endearment; use a name

ペット

a pet — and the ちゃん of w12 attaches to one, since it is not female-only
