What it explains
たら is the past form plus ら
やみました becomes やんだ becomes やんだら. If you can make the plain past, you can make たら, and you already make the plain past. This is the conditional to reach for first because what follows it is unrestricted: a plan, a request, a suggestion, an order — all fine after たら.
〜たらどうですか, and how it lands
Literally if you did, how would it be — a suggestion offered as a question. It is friendly between equals and can sound like an instruction from above, so it fits Maya to the room and would not fit her to Sato. 「〜と いいですね」 is the softer neighbour: I hope it turns out that way, with no suggestion attached.
