Vocabulary Sprint v13 — understanding takes が, and two verbs that became nouns

to begin, by itself — が; its stem 始め is on this list

the beginning of a period — 月の初め; 始め, same sound, is the start of an action

to come to a stop — が; w05's 泊まる sounds exactly like it

脱ぐ

to take off, of clothes or shoes — を, and it undoes 着る, はく and かぶる alike

吸う

to smoke, to breathe in — を; v08's たばこを 吸う

登る

to climb — を for the mountain climbed, as v12's 渡る takes を for a road

勤める

to be employed at — に for the company, and usually 勤めて います

答える

to answer — に for the question, because an answer goes to it

教える

to teach, to tell — を for the thing, に for the person

上げる

to raise, and to give — を; its が half 上がる is on no list

旅行

a journey, travel — 旅行する, and 行 is the 行 of 行きます
