JLPT N1
~てからというもの
Ever since ~ (a particular event occurred)
Structure
Verb て-form + からというもの
How it works
This grammar point is used to express that a noticeable change or continuous state started immediately after a particular event and has continued since.
Examples
あの歌手のコンサートへ行ってからというもの、彼女のファンになった。
Ever since going to that singer's concert, I became her fan.
Common mistakes
Confusing it with simple '~てから' which just indicates a sequential action without the emphasis on a subsequent continuous state.
Tip
Think of it like 'since then, and nothing has been the same.'
