JLPT N2
~ものですから
Because; the reason is that
Structure
Plain form (V/A/Na/N) + ものですから
How it works
This polite and slightly apologetic expression is used to give a reason or explanation for an action, situation, or consequence, often to justify oneself or mitigate an apology.
Examples
急いでいたものですから、忘れ物をしてしまいました。
Because I was in a hurry, I ended up leaving something behind.
Common mistakes
Using it in situations where a simple ので is sufficient; this carries a nuance of polite explanation or excuse.
Tip
It's a more formal and slightly more emphatic way of saying ~ので, especially when giving an excuse or explaining a problem.
